GuideBefore Your Appointment
What to Expect from a Mobile Notary Visit
A mobile notary appointment is simple, but a little preparation makes it faster. Here's how a typical visit with YAJC Mobile Notary Services works, from first call to final stamp.
- Call or submit the contact form with your document type, location, and preferred time.
- Have every signer's valid government-issued photo ID ready.
- Complete any fillable fields in advance — but don't sign until the notary arrives.
- Yvette verifies identities, witnesses signatures, and completes the notarial certificate.
- Payment is collected at the appointment; receipts are provided.
Good to Know
- All signers must be present with their own ID at the time of notarization.
- Witnesses — some documents require witnesses in addition to the notary. Let us know when booking so we can plan accordingly.
- Capacity matters — the signer must be aware and willing. This is especially important for hospital and nursing home visits.
- No legal advice — a notary public verifies identity and witnesses signatures, but cannot explain or alter your document.
Quick Answers
The questions New Yorkers ask most about mobile notary services.
Do I need identification?
Yes. New York requires a valid, government-issued photo ID — such as a driver's license, passport, or state ID — for every signer. The name on your ID should match the name on the document.
Can you travel to me?
That's the entire point of a mobile notary. Yvette travels to homes, offices, hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, coffee shops, and other mutually agreed locations throughout New York.
Can documents be signed before the notary arrives?
No. Signatures must be made in the notary's presence. Fill out your documents ahead of time if you like, but wait to sign until Yvette is there to witness.
Can a notary explain what my document means?
A notary public cannot provide legal advice or explain the contents of your documents. Questions about meaning or legality should go to your attorney, lender, or the document's issuing organization.
Do you offer same-day appointments?
Same-day and after-hours appointments are often available. Call +1 (917) 500-8151 to check availability for your location and document type.
What if a signer can't physically sign?
Options may exist, such as a signature by mark or directed signing, depending on the document. Contact YAJC Mobile Notary Services before your appointment so we can prepare correctly.
